Surf Wax

Probably hands down the most essential accessory in surfing!
Without wax you have no hope in staying on your board, Surf wax provides you with grip so that you can stand on your board and stay standing. Without wax even the best surfers in the world wouldn’t be able to stand and do a turn it is just that important.

There are a number of top brand wax companies out there each offering there own unique substance to what they consider the perfect formula for surf wax. Probably the leading and most well known brand is Sex Wax. Also we can’t forget companies like Mrs Palmers and her five daughters, Sticky Bumps, Bubble Gum, Famous, and ocean and earth. All these companies produce very high quality wax, which one you choose is all about personnel preference so we recommend that you try a number of different brands until you find the one that is right for you.

Waxes are made as different temperature compounds so it is very important that you get the right wax for your local water temperature. In other words you can’t use the same wax in Indonesia that you would use in Santa Cruz. The warmer the water is the harder the wax you need and vice versa, the colder the water is the softer wax you need. Each brand has their own way of advertising their different compounds but it is usually along the lines of Cold water, Cool Water, Warm Water and Tropical Water so choose your wax wisely, if your not too sure ask you local surfshop which one you should be using and they should be able to point you in the right direction.
